If there’s one thing I love, it’s an empowered woman!
And how empowered will you feel when you start and grow a successful business? Have you thought about starting a business? Or have you started a business and sometimes you’re fully engaged with it and other times, the overwhelm gets to you?
A lot of women have considered starting their own business and the ones that took the plunge and started a business, will tell you it’s very fulfilling. It’s not just the idea of being your own boss but feeling the accomplishment of growing a business and the flexibility it allows you in your life. Who among us wouldn’t love to be their own boss, set their own hours, and work out of the comfort of their own home?
So where do you start? What are the best home business opportunities out there waiting for you, that will allow you to contribute financially to your household, the flexibility to set your own schedule, and offer a wonderful feeling of secular accomplishment you long for?
Well, that’s what I’m here to find out for you. I will explore in depth, my top five options I believe in that can work for you. They are:
Virtual Assistant – you might feel like this one has been done to death but Virtual Assistants are needed desperately these days with so many small businesses being started.
My suggestion with starting this business is to please specialize in a certain area. So many profiles I see where the typical things are being offered such as correspondence, answering emails, presentations, etc. That’s fine but if you really want to stand out to a specific market, then your services must be specialized.
Event Manager or Planner – Again, there are lots of event planners but this industry has been the comeback kid for a while now. A lot of companies had moved to local training, webinars, and conferencing but those didn’t always offer the experience an attendee expects and aren’t always the best way to convince a potential client to partner with a firm. Again, I would specialize and I’ll talk about event niches and hopefully some new areas you haven’t thought about based on some trends I see happening.
Be sure to subscribe to our blog because I’m working on an Event Planner book that discusses best practices for a more successful business. I promise this book is not the usual ” how to plan a meeting” or the “legalities of setting up a business” – we’ll talk about the nuts and bolts of what you’ll need to do to be successful. I’ll also research sites offering credible courses, suggested books that can help you and other vendors that specialize in accounting, organization and contracts so you can manage the new clients coming your way!
Social Media Manager – Trust me – this area changes so much, a business owner is just not going to be able to survive without a social media partner to market their business, communicate with their readers, raise visibility to establish them as an expert in their field. Also, trying to keep up with the changes and social media rules is better left to a professional. So what a wonderful opportunity this can be for a small business.
Life/Business Coach – After all these years, coaching continues to be a vibrant option for a business. You can focus on individual clients or create a group coaching program. Most start out with individual clients to build their credibility and then move on to group coaching because they can help a larger group through workshops, ecourses and self-study courses.
The best site I found with ready made workshops templates and self study courses is CoachGlue. Of all the sites I found, I like this one the best because they are dedicated to coaches and their workshops are so professional looking and detailed. They have programs available for individual sale and offer monthly and annual memberships. All you’ll need to do is make a few edits, add your logo and start marketing.
I’ll also research coaching certification options for you if you want to earn a coaching certificate – which isn’t necessary – but will certainly help with your credibility.
Writing Firm/PLR Store – Content is king and most business owners do not have time to constantly create content for their websites and blogs. The amount required is simply so overwhelming that they will long for someone to write their articles and blog posts for them or offer prewritten PLR articles with a license for them to use your content on their site. (Here’s an example of a PLR firm: All Private Label Resell Content)
With millions and millions of blogs, there is a huge potential in content creation as a business. So if you enjoy writing, try your hand at a writing firm where you can make money by writing content for the internet. You can write at your own pace and market your skills anywhere you want.
And there you have it – of all the business ideas out there, these five are by far my favorite as great business ideas. Don’t let the idea of starting a home business get to you because it’s not as daunting as it might seem. Choose your business option wisely, plan carefully, and you’ll be well prepared to make a success of your new business venture.
And for those of you struggling to stay focused and interested in your business, we’ll talk about ways to stay energized and engaged so you continue on the road to success you’ve already started.
To Your Business Success!
